In November, the government said it will complete the concrete fiberboarding system for the central highway in Kolkata by end of December.
The project, dubbed ‘Fiberboard: A new concept for a new age’ in the government’s vision for the city, is designed to provide a safer alternative to traditional concrete building materials and to help improve the urban landscape.
It is expected to create 2.5 lakh jobs in construction and construction work and generate around Rs 10,000 crore for the state over the next three years.
However, the project is still in its early stages and is expected in the next five years to reach completion.
A section of the Kolkattapura-Karkali Road is expected be completed by the end of 2021, the ministry said.
